Today we have one of the most strengthening and comforting psalms, some parts of which should be memorized and recited over and over as a personal song inspiring our hearts and abandoning everything we are, we have, and we need to God’s loving care.
As Jesus was tempted in the desert we are tempted constantly; everyday in our lives we will face difficult challenges and struggles and in our attempt to resolve them we will have before us a Christian way to follow the way Jesus would follow if he were in the identical situation. Sometimes it not the easy way, or perhaps it is not what pleases us, but we know that it is the way of the Spirit, the way that pleases God. Or we can follow the easy way that goes against our Christian principles, or in other words, the sinful way.
Every action in our life is convenient or inconvenient for our spiritual life, or we walk in God’s direction or against Him. Thanks to the same God, we have a conscience that allows us to see what God wants us to do.
The purpose of not committing sin is an everyday resolution that needs to be renewed every moment and be sustained by prayer and the real love we have for God, because, as we say, “I don’t want to offend You my merciful God.”
This spiritual battle is difficult, and we cannot be victorious alone; we need to pray together as a community, and to pray for one another, placing our trust in God, our refuge and our fortress.
Remember that we have the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary next to the office, which is available anytime for you to visit and where you can spend some quiet time in prayer. What a wonderful spiritual gift!
May the Lord deliver you from temptation and may the Blessed Mother protect you.
