The time of Hope in God’s salvation is coming to us with his light. Jesus is coming and we are attentive to his presence.

My dear people of God, once again we are at the beginning of the Church’s new year–the season of Advent. It is a season of preparation, with penance, fasting, works of charity and prayer for the historical Coming of Christ as a baby in Bethlehem to be our King and to give his life to save us. During the season of Advent we prepare ourselves to celebrate Christmas and also the Second Coming in Glory. The first three weeks of Advent will focus on the Second Coming, while during the last week, the liturgical focus will be on the immediate preparation for Christmas.

In this Sunday’s reading we find a promise to a suffering Israel and Judah that they will be “safe and secure.” This is also a promise that He will come to redeem us as a people and us personally. We are coming out from the shadows of death; the pandemic took so many people and hurt our families and community, but we remain standing believing in God’s promise of salvation. As we proclaimed last week, “Heaven and earth will pass but his Word endures forever.” He is coming to save us and we must prepare our souls to receive Him.

Be prepared because this Second Coming will happen when you least expect it, so do not be presumptuous of your salvation. Come and walk with us in this spiritual journey. Let us open our hearts to God’s mercy and receive his forgiveness and be ready to celebrate the incarnation of our Savior. Christ the King Parish needs to rejoice as a community that is full of hope, facing our future with happiness because we know that Jesus is coming to lead us to the Father and to establish his Kingdom.

I pray to the Lord to bless your family and to guide you in a very spiritual journey that is full of his peace and love, and may there be perfect unity within your family and within our community. May the Mother of the Lord who awaits her son hold you and embrace you in her holy hope.
