Do Not Be Afraid; Just Have Faith.

In this Sunday's gospel, a Jewish synagogue official named Jairus came to Jesus and pleaded, "My daughter is at the point of death. Please, come lay your hands on her that she may get well and live." How great was the need and desperation of this man, and how serious was the condition of his daughter to push him to come to Jesus and risk his religious position among the Jewish authorities!

When his life came to the point to search for the real answer, he knew that Jesus was the only solution to his anxiety and problem and that only Jesus could offer him what he and his daughter needed. To do what he did was because he knew that everything was lost and the only possibility was the man who was creating such a big controversy in Israel. The situation even grew worse when he was informed that his daughter was dead. I wonder what he felt in his heart. What came into his fatherly mind? Where was his hope in that precise moment? But Jesus restored a new hope when he said, "Do not be afraid; just have faith."

Would you be able to let your heart not be troubled? Would you be able to have faith in a moment as this one? In this gospel the man believed Jesus' words and his daughter came back to life.

In this very way Jesus is the only one to give solutions to our anxieties, but we need to walk by faith, and our faith has to be the light and guidance of our life. This powerful story can also be accomplished in our life if we totally trust our Lord. So let us plead with faith and recognize that only in Jesus is there hope.

May the Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother bless you and protect you.
