Christ Is Always With Me

This year on Sunday we are united with many dioceses throughout the world celebrating the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ to heaven. We usually celebrate this solemnity in our diocese on the Thursday before the seventh week of Easter.
Last week the Gospel showed Jesus after the Last Supper giving light, wisdom, and encouragement to his disciples with the love he received from his Father, giving them that same love which became a mission when he pronounced the new commandment, "Love one another as I have loved you." For Jesus "Love" is an action and only by acting in love can we remain in Him. These words of Jesus were like his testament for us before going to the Father and entering into His Glory.
Now after forty days and after appearing to many and revealing his glorious presence as the fulfillment of his mission in this world for our salvation, the time has come and Jesus goes to the Father. How can we be without Jesus? Will we be alone? Of course not! At the moment the disciples were distressed because Jesus announced that he will be going to the Father and added, "If you love me, you will be happy that I am going to the Glory of the Father." Then Jesus gave them a great promise for us: "In a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." What wonderful hope resides in our hearts! We have the certainty that we will be empowered with the presence of the Holy Spirit and his seven gifts and twelve fruits will be acting in our lives. Now we can go out and preach the Good News to all creatures and announce the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
Brothers and sisters, always keep in your hearts the fact that we are never alone. Jesus will never abandon us. He will always be at our side through his Spirit. In every single moment, his presence sustains us, embraces us, and comforts us. We abide in the Lord.
Recognizing the ever-presence of Christ, let us pray with the words of Saint Patrick: “Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that
hears me.”
Thank you, Lord because you are always with me.
Keep in mind that I always pray for you. May the Lord bless you and may our Lady of Fatima always protect you.
