The Father Ran to His Son, Embraced Him and Kissed Him

How beautiful is the story of the son who after abandoning his loving father, spending his money in a sinful life, repents and comes back to his father to ask forgiveness? This story tells us that his father caught sight of him and was filled with compassion; he then ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. We see one more time that God is merciful. It doesn’t matter what our sins are or how numerous they are, but what is important is that we truly recognize that what we did was wrong and we offended our merciful God.

This is the time to come back to him. We are sinners and it is necessary to ask for forgiveness from the depths of our hearts. Don’t waste this opportunity. Lent is a journey of repentance and conversion. As the father in the parable who was waiting for his son, God is waiting for you and calling you to come back to him; and when you return to him he will run to you, filled with compassion, and will embrace and kiss you.

May this season of Lent lead us through a real path of conversion towards the Glory of God.

May the Blessed Mother intercede for our return to the father's grace.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I would like to thank you for your generosity and support of the Catholic Diocesan Appeal this past weekend. Your support is very important for the diocese, for this parish and for me as your pastor. Be sure that God will respond to you with a greater generosity for your kindness and sacrifice in this Lent as you share from your resources to support the mission of the Gospel in the Diocese of Trenton. Without your help it would be impossible to achieve all the Diocese is doing in God's name.

I pray that the Lord will reward you and bless you for help
