“Come to Me, All You Who Labor and Are Burdened, and I Will Give You Rest.”

One of the great gifts from God that I have received as a priest is the opportunity to listen to many people who come to me for confession, or to offer counsel in their lives' dilemmas, to comment on things that they need to remove from their hearts, and they believe that the priest is the person to do this. This is part of my mission and part of my vocation - to listen and to pray for my people who are in need, and I am happy for this calling.

Through your words I hear the sorrow, the pain, the burden in your souls, and I also hear the song and the beauty of life, the joy and the gratefulness of the spirit, and in every one of these moments I discover the presence of God in your life, always merciful as the psalm proclaims today: The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. The LORD is good to all and compassionate toward all his works.

Let us place all of our burdens in God's hands; let us come to him and rest, come to Him and drink of His Spirit and quench our thirst, come to Him to eat and satisfy our hunger, come to Him to be embraced by His love and to offer our hearts and souls to Him. Be always certain that He is with you.

I know that for many of you, your cross could be too heavy, the difficulties of this life too burdensome, so you need to come to Him. Remember that every Saturday we have confession at 3:00 – 3:45 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. The Lord is telling you: Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

You are in my prayers every single day. May the Lord in His great mercy give you rest and the abundance of His blessings. May the Blessed Mother protect you.
